My Summary of Simone Elkeles “Perfect Chemistry” Series.

I LOVE SIMONE ELKELES!

I was first introduced to the wonderful words of Ms Elkeles when I got my hands on Perfect Chemistry. I LOVED IT! So much so that I still rave about it today! Perfect Chemistry is part of a three book series which follows the lives of the Fuentes brothers: Three hot Mexican brothers: Alex, Carlos and Luis who are all ruggedly sexy, oozing with attitude and have that bad-boy-cant-be-tamed look about them. The first book is about Alex and Brittany and their journey in dealing with their own personal struggles alone but someway, somehow they find each other.

The main characters Brittany and Alex are from different sides of society, she’s popular and seems to have it all whereas he is the schools bad boy and is involved in a gang. Two polar opposites, so you have to think to yourself, how do they meet? Why would this be a romance story, they are so different? Well my friend, ever hear of the saying “Opposites Attract?’, because this book runs true to the saying. Oh.. and did I mention that Alex is so freaking hot, seriously! He’s all muscles and the broody, sexy bad boy that-you-know-you-should-stay-away-from type, he had so much going on, I was just like:

The whole book was so different then the books I had read before, it was the first time I had been introduced to the alternating POV’ concept AND I FREAKING LOVED IT!

“Miss Ellis?” Mrs. Perterson says. “It’s your turn. Introduce Alex to the class”
“This is Alejandro Fuentes. When he wasn’t hanging out on street corners and harrassing innocent people this summer, he toured the inside of jails around the city, if you know what i mean. His secret desire is to go to college and become a chemistry teacher, like you Mrs. Peterson.”
Brittany flashed me a triumphant smile, thinking she won this round. Guess again, gringa. “This is Brittany Ellis,” I say, all eyes focused on me. “This summer she went to the mall, bought new clothes to extend her wardrobe, and spent her daddy’s money on plastic surgery to enhance her, ahem, assets. Her secret desire is to date a Mexicano before she graduates.”
Game on…”

After finishing Perfect Chemistry,  I began to follow Simone’s writing journey. I almost ALMOST died when she announced the release of the second novel in the series, Rules of Attraction. It was written in the same way, it was AMAZING and was all about Alex’s brother Carlos Fuentes and a mountain climbing, car fixing, grade A student girl called Kiara  Westford.

“We kiss all the time.” I clear my throat, then add, “We just…do it in private.”
“A smug expression crosses his face. “I don’t buy it for a second, ’cause if you were my girlfriend and a stud like me was livin’ in your house, I’d kiss you in front of the guy every chance I got as a reminder.”
“A reminder of w-w-what?”
“That you were mine.”

Then Simone just had to go on and release a third book called Chain Reaction and pretty much I keeled over in shock!

The third book revolves around the lives of Luis Fuentes and Nikki Cruz. Although I was very excited to get my hands on it, once I did and I finished reading it. I was a little disappointed, I felt it wasn’t as amazing as the first two, but I think my reaction to it may just be because I  loved Alex and Carlos’ personality and their stories towards love with Brittany and Kiara more than Luis’ journey with Nikki, I just felt like Nikki was a ridiculous character and she made me so frustrated and Luis’ was just a nice character.

However, my expectations of Chain Reaction may have been a little too high, as I loved the first two books so much that nothing could really top it and really Chain Reaction just didn’t hit that expectation.

BUT…When I heard that Simone was releasing a new series titled Wild Cards, this was my immediate reaction, I kid you not.

The Perfect Chemistry series is just one of those book series that you won’t forget, its surprising and different.  Its a pretty fun, humorous and light read, with aspects of Mexican culture and language mixed into the novels. Not only did I enjoy the read, I learnt something from it… Chica 😉 I would recommend reading the series, if you haven’t read it yet! But I will warn you that it is a young adult novel, set in high school and among a midst of teenagers, so don’t expect anything too deep or emotionally touching. There are aspects in the stories that will make you sad, but it won’t be earth shattering moments or moments that make you cry. This series is really a light read and just for fun.

I am truly so excited for Wild Cards to be released, I’ll keep you posted on any info that I discover!

What are your thoughts on the Perfect Chemistry series? Are you just as excited to read ‘Wild Cards’?
